Duality Yin and Yang
• Trigrams and elements

The continuous flow of Yin and Yang transformations creates all the changes which affect the whole world.

The Yi Jing holds the works of the Chinese sages who, for thousand of years, have attempted to systematize these permanent variations of energy.

Yin et Yang give birth to both a son and a daughter who, in turn, give birth to a son and a daughter.

The eight persons so obtained, are symbolized by an ideogram composed of (full line Yang or broken line Yen) called a trigram. Their permutations give birth to 64 pairs called the hexagrams, which are the basis of the study of change and of the art of divination of the Yi Jing.

Fire represents ascending energy and is associated with the triangle.

Earth is an energy which revolves on itself and its associated with the square.

Metal represents the state of contraction of the energy and corresponds to the sphere.

Water represents the falling energy and is associed with curves.

Wood is the expending energy and is associed with the rectangle.
