How do you calculate your Gua?

In the Latter Ba Gua, every trigram governs a direction, a moment of the year like a season, a colour as well as a number. This number is called a Gua and is determined by your year of birth. Enter your own year of birth and you will get your Gua.

(For the children born from year 2000 onward, boys replace number 10 by number 9 and girls replace number 5 by number 6. If you are born between January 1st and February 3rd, you are from the previous year.)
You can determine your own Gua by yourself if you follow this simple method of calculation, explained below:

Men

You just add the last two digits of your year of birth. If the number obtained is composed of two digits, add them again. Then subtract the result from number 10.

• If you are born in 1975
• 7+5 = 12
• 1+1 = 3
• 10-3 = 7

Your Gua number is 7

Women

You just add the last two digits of your year of birth. If the number obtained is composed of two digits, add them again. Then add the result to number 5.

• If you are born in 1975
• 7+5 = 12
• 1+2 = 3
• 5+3 = 8

Your Gua number is 8
